The Scourge refers to a time period when Horrors were able to cross into our land. The Horrors wreaked havoc on the land its inhabitants. Some individuals survived in kaers built by the Theran Empire, though not all kaers successfully repelled the Horrors. As the magic level died down most of the horrors were forced back out of our world and back into theirs.
