A favorite destination for traders and Heros, Bartertown squats on the road outside the gates of Throal. Originally formed as a group of tents set up by merchants who did not wish to pay the fees and taxes to open shop in the Grand Bazaar of Throal, the settelment is now an unplanned and ramshackle city in its own right.

Anything can be bought with enough effort and money in Bartertown (If not hte object itself, at least information of where to find it). A significant fraction of the population can also be hired, bought or rented.To keep order, the merchants of Bartertown hired a mercenary leader to act as magistrate and lead a rudimentary city government and approved taxes to pay for it all. As the city was created by a group of tax dodgers, the city has become a hub of smuggling, with the city authority acting essentially as another strong gang trying to protect its turf.
